JSL Foundation and NIIT Foundation Unveil Career Development Centre at Jajpur, Orissa

  • State-of-the-art centre to provide job-oriented training program in Hardware and Networking to the underserved youth of Orissa

Orissa, August 09, 2011: NIIT Foundation (NF), set up to provide world-class education and training to the under-served communities, and JSL Foundation (JF), today entered into a strategic partnership to provide job-oriented training in Hardware and Networking to the youth from the underserved sections of the society. The state-of-the-art Career Development Centre in Jajpur, Orissa was inaugurated by Mr. Ratan Jindal, MD & CEO, JSL Stainless Ltd. Also present on the occasion were Mrs. Deepika Jindal, Brig. Rajiv Williams, Corporate head- CSR, JSL Stainless Ltd.  and Ms. Sapna Moudgil, Implementation Head, NIIT Foundation.

Under the partnership, NIIT Foundation will draw upon its expertise to impart skill based training backed by placement opportunities to the eligible students. JSL Institute of Industrial Training (JSL-IIT), a not-for-profit training facility set up and operated by JF, will provide the space and other necessary infrastructure to operate the centre. The Career Development Centre aims to train over 120 students living in the vicinity every year.

Mr. Ratan Jindal, MD & CEO, JSL Stainless Ltd., remarked, “We are pleased to join hands  with NIIT Foundation for this project that will give us an opportunity to contribute towards the overall development of society.”

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sapna Moudgil, Implementation Head, NIIT Foundation said, “Although India is on a growth path, we are still grappling with challenges of unemployment and under employment in semi-urban and rural areas, due to lack of right skill sets required by the industry. To address this concern, we are happy to partner with JSL Foundation to help create a pool of job-ready workforce from the underserved sections of the society.”

The state-of-the-art NIIT Career Development Centre will offer 18 months course and training program in Hardware and Networking to the youth from the underserved sections of the society. The course has been designed and customized by NIIT Foundation to help students learn about latest technologies in Hardware and Networking space and enhance their existing skills with aim to make them job-ready in a short period. Employment assistance will be provided to the eligible students.

Students will be selected on the basis of eligibility criteria set by the NIIT Foundation. Also, deserving candidates will get scholarships and discounts depending on the merit.
