NIIT launches ‘New Age GNIIT’- India’s First Cloud Campus, in Kochi

Leverages cloud computing methodology  to enable anywhere, anytime learning for students
Kochi, August 23, 2011: NIIT Limited, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia’s largest IT trainer, today launched the new age GNIIT- India’s first Cloud Campus, in Kochi.  This unique GNIIT programme can be pursued anywhere anytime, by leveraging the unique cloud learning methodology.  The state-of-the-art NIIT Cloud CampusTM was launched by P Rajendran, Chief Operating Officer, NIIT Limited.
 
The pioneering NIIT Cloud CampusTM   empowers student to learn on his own terms, at his own pace, wherever and whenever he wants it. Students enjoy higher mobility as they can easily access educational services using a Netbook or a Mobile device that connects them to NIIT’s Cloud Campus network.  These services will be managed by NIIT centrally, using the power of Cloud Computing.
 
One of the most important initiatives of NIIT in recent times, the new syllabus of the GNIIT progammes, is based on a revolutionary educational paradigm called collaborative learning which takes students’ beyond the traditional classroom based student-teacher relationship.
 
Students enrolling for the 3 progammes on offer through the Cloud Campus: GNIIT, GNIIT for Engineering students and Post Graduate Programme in IT (PGPIT), will be provided with technically robust netbook, a well designed digital courseware and a fully paid data card. Furthermore, the technology backed learning environment of NIIT’s Cloud and Collaborative Learning Methodology supports group learning through interactive features like 24×7 lab and e-library access, instant tech updates, interaction with faculty and peers and access to online video streams. Thus the learning process is not just limited to textbooks but is enhanced through group learning.

The industry-endorsed syllabus of the GNIIT Programme helps students develop a strong conceptual foundation, along with technical skills for meeting the core requirements of the job demands in IT and IT related domains. With inputs from NIIT’s academic, and IT partners, the syllabus ensures that the students’ IT skills are mapped to the real life requirements of the industry. The uniqueness of the GNIIT programme also lies in its Professional PracticeTM, which a year-long internship that gives the students the opportunity to work at leading IT organizations. This one year of internship gives exposure to ‘live’ case studies and a stipend that lets them earn-while-they-learn.
 
The ‘GNIIT for Engineering students’ programme from NIIT has been designed to bridge this skill gap by enhancing the skill sets of engineering graduates. A software engineering training programme, GNIIT for Engineering students has designed to be studied in parallel to Engineering studies so that the students are successful IT professionals by the time they graduate. The programme syllabus trains the student completely on Java and .NET technologies​ and has been designed with inputs from the IT industry to ensure that students are always competitive. The requirement for enrolment to this programme is successful admission into an engineering college for B.E. or B.Tech programme.
 
Also introduced on the Cloud platform is Post Graduate Programme in IT (PGPIT), a one year extensive course, which offers multiple specializations to students. PGPIT students can venture into any Technology specialization that they prefer such as Java, .Net, Business Intelligence, Business Analysis and Database Administration. The uniqueness of the PGPIT lies in its Project Training that gives the students the opportunity to work at leading IT organizations. The project training enables a PGPIT registrant to gain work experience before he/she completes the training.
